Flight Path 2030 Trajectory Grants

Have an idea that could strengthen future-ready learning for students? The fall 2026 Trajectory Grant pilot provides RWPS educators with a way to turn promising ideas into action. Funding for Trajectory Grants is provided through Flight Path 2030, made possible by Dwight and Dian Diercks. 

This first round of Trajectory Grants is being offered as a pilot, providing an additional funding opportunity for RWPS educators in fall 2026. The pilot will also help inform how Trajectory Grants might complement and potentially align with the work of the Red Wing Public Schools Foundation in future grant cycles.

Key Dates

  • Applications open September 8, 2026
  • Applications close October 12, 2026 at 11:59 p.m.
  • Applicants notified by October 31, 2026

Who Can Apply

RWPS teachers and counselors serving students in grades 7–12 may apply. Student groups may propose a project with an RWPS staff member serving as the applicant and sponsor. Elementary projects are not eligible during this pilot.

The application form will be sent to staff via email in September with a link to apply.

What We’re Looking For

We welcome ideas aligned with Flight Path 2030 that deepen student learning or create meaningful future-ready experiences. Examples may include:

  • Projects that demonstrate responsible use of technology.
  • Real-world or career-connected learning.
  • Other future-ready skills and experiences.

Strong proposals should explain the idea, expected student impact, how success will be assessed, and what could be learned, shared, or scaled.

Considerations Before You Apply

  • The initial pilot is limited to Grades 7-12.
  • Curriculum purchases are not eligible.
  • Technology that connects to district Wi-Fi/network resources, or that requires a data privacy review, must receive the required RWPS technology approval before funding can be finalized.
  • There is no predetermined minimum or maximum request for the pilot. Request what is reasonably needed and explain the anticipated expenses.
  • Projects funded in this first ‘pilot’ cycle must be implemented during the 2026–27 school year.

What Happens Next

Applications will be reviewed collaboratively by the Flight Path 2030 AICE Hub and the Red Wing Public Schools Foundation. Awards may be funded in whole or in part.

Recipients will be asked to share a brief reflection on impact and, when appropriate, photos or other evidence of the project in action.

What we learn through the pilot will help shape future FP2030 grant opportunities and may inform the Foundation’s regular spring grant cycle beginning in 2027.
